Which is not to say that it's perfect or anything because there are certainly flaws, but I'm kind of shocked by how many 1s it's gotten when people seem happy to give 10s to some utter drivel out there. To the point where I kind of wonder why the author spent so much time building it up in the first place.īut in the end I would rate this story as better than most web novels.

I was groaning throughout that whole arc but it actually ended mercifully quickly. Lord of the flies shit can happen of course but when you are faced with a very real external threat with no clue of exactly how strong it is maybe that shouldn't be your top priority. This guy is supposed to be smart but upon being transported to another world his main priority seems to be killing anyone who doesn't follow him rather than, I don't know, fighting the orcs. Naturally this asshole is one of the survivors and starts playing king of the mountain in the new world which is when things start getting *really* weird. I don't care if his dad is the chairman of the school or whatever. No matter how rich and well-connected his dad supposedly is there is stuff in those bullying stories that nobody would have gotten away with in any civilized society. The author spends seemingly forever building up how awful of a person the guy who who bullied the protagonist is. (That was sarcasm, please don't kill me) But wait, if all these people were saved in time then how come none of *them* were male? Pay no attention to that, the novel demands a harem. but then consider how every single member of the protagonists harem just happened to be saved in the nick of time and is still 'pure'. There is at least a plausible (though dark) explanation for why there are so many more female than male survivors The harem developments feel much too rushed and unnatural. There are some things I don't like, though. It's different but I can't hate this novel for that. It's also part of the setting that is established from the beginning and it's used intelligently so it doesn't exactly feel like a deus ex machina. I feel that this novel does a better job than most of depicting ordinary people being thrust into an insane situation. While they do level up and become stronger they keep fighting against stronger and stronger enemies too so it never feels like an easy victory.Īn earlier review criticized the existence of the 'white room' for being too convenient, but frankly if they didn't have it they would have all gone crazy from stress by now.

On the plus side the fights are always tense. Don't expect a lot of slice-of-life antics here. As soon as one battle is finished they immediately get dragged into another with little chance for resting. This novel is like 90% fighting, for better or worse.
